Jakarta - Thousands of people joined a
demonstration, dubbed as the "action of one million believers", in
front of the US Embassy on Jalan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta on Sunday,
calling on the US Government to end its double standard policy in the
Middle East conflict.
The protesters condemned the US double standard policy by supporting
Israel`s military aggression to Palestine and Lebanon , while the super
power always condemned other countries for invading others.
They also condemned the Israeli military aggression as a crime against
humanity as lot of Palestinian and Lebanese civilian people has lost
their lives.
In their rally, the demonstrators representing the United Indonesian
People for Peace (RIB-UP), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and some
non-governmental organisations such the Indonesian Environmental
Vehicle (Walhi), Gema Nusa, as well as some student groups denounced
Israeli inhuman attacks and also branded the Jewish country and the US
as the real terrorists of the world.
Their rally was carried out for about 30 minutes as they failed to meet with the US Embassy`s representatives.
Recently, the US has vetoed a draft of United Nations (UN) resolution
which asked Israel to end its military campaign and the using of
imbalance military power" in the Gaza line as well as asked the
Palestinian and Hezbollah fighters to set the Israelian soldiers free,
as they had been kidnaped by the fighters.
The resolutions draft of the UN Security Council have 10 pro-votes , one rejection-vote of the US, and four abstained-votes.
Previously, on October 2004, US has also used its veto to abort the
same draft to demand Israel to end-up all of its military operations in
the Nothern Gaza and pull up their troops from the area.
