Ancol jakarta bay city remains the premier Jakarta getaway. Without
leaving the city, weary Jakartans and visitors alike can soak up the
sun on their own private beachfront and stay in the traditional
bungalows at Putri Duyung Ancol, while children enjoy the thrills of
Dunia Fantasy theme park, and art enthusiasts meander through the art
market in search of a bargain. Great restaurants, exciting and
innovative entertainment parks, excellent executive facilities and
popular nighttime entertainment round out the Ancol experience. There's
even a completely recreated winter wonderland, and Southeast Asia's
first 4D cinema!
Since reinvigorating the forgotten tributary areas along Jakarta Bay in
the early 1960s, Jakarta has been able to create the most diverse area
of high-technology entertainment options, resort facilities and
landholding in Indonesia. And with an extensive network of buses and
parking facilities, it's relatively easy to visit for the day or even
spend the weekend. For those wanting to enjoy its fresh sea breezes and
cleaner air year-round, there are also many spacious apartments and
houses located just around the perimeter and managed by Ancoljakarta
bay city.
Traditionally, the favorite destination for families
has been Dunia Fantasi amusement park, home to 29 thrilling rides,
including roller coasters and simulation rides. Divided into 8 distinct
worlds, Dunia Fantasi recreates a Disney-style experience where
families can explore various parts of the world through rides, games,
shows and even parades. Expect to step back in time to ancient Greece,
shoot 'em out with cowboys and Indians in America, saunter along the
streets of Europe and do so much more. Dunia Fantasi' s latest
attraction is the theater simulation experience' Star Warrior', where
visitors must fend off alien attacks and dodge meteor showers.
Sea
World gives visitors a taste of that world which lies just beyond the
shores, with an incredible 5 million liters of saltwater housing 120
species of sea creatures. The highlight is its 80-meter tunnel, where
visitors can safely surround themselves with the dangerous beauty of
sharks, manta rays, jellyfish and other sea creatures floating around.
The
newly renovated Atlantis Water Adventure recreates the mysterious lost
world of Atlantis. This spacious water park provides a great escape
from the scorching Jakarta heat, offering kids and adults alike a
choice of nine different pools, along with water slides, a wave pool
and even a circular lazy river with inner tubes. Current work on one
portion of the pool will create a new roof, allowing visitors to escape
the sun and soak in the pool even on rain-filled afternoons.
Another
exciting new development is Gelanggang Samudra Ancol, a beautifully
magical sea castle that features animal shows, a pyramid-shaped 4D
cinema and large freshwater and seawater aquariums. Admission includes
the Aladdin-themed dolphin show and the sea lion show, both held four
times a day, and the 'aneka satua' show where children can actually
meet and interact with their favorite animals. An extra fee includes
the dramatic new 4D edutainment theater, where visitors get to escape
Jakarta and fully immerse themselves in another world. The latest show
is titled 'Binatang, Binatang', and envelops viewers in the action with
special effects using water, air and other real elements.
In
addition to its major attractions, Ancol jakarta bay city offers a lush
green 18hole public golf course, fully-equipped marina with boats
leaving daily for Bidadari Island, bowling and, of course, miles of
beautiful sandy beaches that are excellent for swimming or simply a
quiet stroll along the sea.
At night, Ancol comes alive. The
Hailai Executive Club and the various hotels concentrated around the
lagoon boast great nightlife facilities, including discos, karaoke
lounges and bowling. As well, the beachside clubs host a number of
local and international bands and DJs. For dining out, the new Jimbaran
restaurant recreates a Balinese dining feast at reasonable prices and
set within traditional Balinese-style architecture. A number of other
options sate one's desire for fresh seafood and international cuisine.
