President to open Jakarta Fair 2007 |

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to officially open the
Jakarta Fair 2006, which is part of Jakarta`s 480th anniversary
celebrations, here on Thursday evening, organizers said here on
Thursday.
The annual event which has been held since 1967 is expected to be visited by 2.6 million visitors.
Chief of the event`s organizers Siti Hartati Murdaya said earlier that
the Jakarta Fair 2007 would carry the theme: "Prosperous and Peaceful
Indonesia."
The Jakarta Fair 2007 is expected to create business opportunities and
help Indonesia boost its economic development and progress.
Murdaya said that the fair was expected to improve the people`s
economy, increase their love for domestic products and jack up the
sales of domestic commodities.
The number of participants in the Jakarta Fair 2007 increased to 1,550 from the previous year`s 1,000.
Of the number, 42 are medium-sized entrepreneurs who are intentionally developed for increasing the capacity of their business.
"We set a 10 percent increase in the number of visitors this year to
2.6 million. We also set a target of Rp550 billion in business
transactions," she said.
Organizers this year will apply tickets which is chip-based technology in order to ensure security, she said. (*)
